Astronomer's Suite is a project that has been evolving for more than seven years. It is based on five movements in which the astronomer introduces the audience to the different concepts of astrophysical research, where music and images invite the spectator to travel through mental spaces without certain points of reference. The astronomical images that are shown are different from those that are normally used to illustrate a new discovery. Instead, you will see the same essential images that the astronomer uses for his research, on which his gaze gets lost and finds itself again and again. They are enigmatic images, which precede the discovery, the manifestation of something unexpected.
The music of the piano will follow the astronomer's eye, to orient itself in an as yet unexplored space, without marked roads. The processes of musical composition are shown through passages of analysis and synthesis, in a laborious exploration of places of which there are no maps, as is the case in scientific research. The tension towards the new is what art and science have in common, and it characterises our human being in a unique and profound way. Astronomer's Suite wants to be a dialogue, a journey to the roots of the common language of knowledge, to rediscover the unity of scientific and humanistic thought.
