Giunti Odeon presents the highly anticipated new film written and directed by the multi-award-winning Martin McDonagh (who previously directed Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and The Banshees of Inisherin), one of the most acclaimed films at the latest Venice Film Festival and starring two dynamic actors: John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. Santiago, Chile, 1973. On the eve of the military coup that will overthrow the democratic government and kill the socialist president Allende, two CIA agents – the cynical Chris and the younger Lee – travel to Easter Island to spend a few days as tourists. Chris, who has a history of ‘successes’ in the Congo and Guatemala and may have played a key role in the Kennedy assassination, suffers from memory problems, harbours some regrets, feels a strange compassion for moths and is tempted to stop lying once and for all, having spent his entire life concealing the truth in various ways. Lee accompanies him and keeps a watchful eye on him, burdened by a painful task. Meanwhile, the fact that Chris wants to write his memoirs worries their boss, MJ, to such an extent that he jumps on a plane to sort the situation out in person once and for all.
