Fire Walk With Me is the prequel to the first two seasons of the legendary TV series Twin Peaks and, at the same time, is a fundamental chapter for ‘understanding’ many of the plot points in Twin Peaks: The Return. The film recounts the days leading up to Laura Palmer's death and her gradual descent into the underworld of perversion in the context of the seemingly amorphous microcosm of provincial America. A fundamental film in David Lynch's career, it foreshadows the parable that would later explode with Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, and Inland Empire.
